After Hours
That was hours ago.
Nobody's going anywhere. Why would they. They know what’s up.
Blood orange hits first — dark, slightly dangerous, the citrus of a night that stopped pretending to be reasonable approximately three songs ago. Black pepper sharp and reckless underneath, like someone just turned the music up without asking and honestly nobody's complaining. Then cardamom arrives and the whole night shifts.
This is the part that doesn't get talked about Monday morning. Classic rascal behavior.
Sage drifting through like the last functioning brain cell — present, noted, outvoted. Warm spice settling into the heart like the third conversation of the night — the real one, the loud one, the one where someone says something that makes everyone lose it completely and the neighbors make a mental note.
Leather in the base. Amber. Tonka. The kind of warmth that comes from people who have seen each other at their best and worst and showed up anyway.
If these walls could talk.
They won't. Obviously.
The music is dancier now. The camaraderie is louder. The night has reached that specific fever pitch where ending it feels genuinely criminal.
Are you going to bed?
Don't even think about it.
